We photograph the moment light forgets to be color.

Isohel is Alba Reyes and Sander Thijs, working out of a rented darkroom on Nøstegaten in Bergen since 2016. The name comes from the cartographic line connecting points that receive equal daylight — a fitting mark for two photographers who left color behind to chase contrast instead.

Neither trained as a photographer first. Alba spent six years as a structural engineer in Rotterdam before picking up a Hasselblad on a job site in 2013; she now shoots most of the Structure series and runs the darkroom. Sander came from marine biology fieldwork in the Faroe Islands, and still plans the Land expeditions like research trips — tide tables, weather windows, a week of waiting for one frame.
